Does pleasure enslave people more easily and more thoroughly than force?

Probably not, although it's certainly preferable. If an attractive woman who lives a mile away calls me up and says she wants to make love I'll forget what I'm doing and rush right over. But if someone points a gun at my head and tells me I have two minutes to get out of their sight I might just set a new world's record for running the mile!
