In fallout new Vegas, is the price of the gold bars from dead money realistic?

The base value for each bar is 10,539 caps for a gold bar weighing 35 pounds. That sounds awfully cheap for that much gold. Do you think that's a realistic price though? I'd imagine It would be, after a nuclear war gold would probably no longer have any major value to it.
